EJ Will’s Gastro Pub opened up nearby in McKinney Texas. It is a fun pub and looks like THEE hang out while watching sports and enjoying a beer or two.
They didn’t have anything vegan on the menu but they could potentially take a few items on the menu and easily make them vegan.
I reached out to the owner, Joy Booth and her husband Gregg and they made me some delicious vegan dishes.
I have the McKinney pod for Plant Pure Communities. Plant Pure is an organization that is plant based for ethical and environmental reasons. They certify restaurants that offer vegan items on their menu. They are only required to flag items as vegan on their menu or have a menu available for special dietary concerns including vegan options.
Gregg made me a delicious Portobello sandwich with an onion and berry jam on sourdough bread.
The regular Portobello Sammie has cheese and is served with a buttered and grilled brioche bread which is made with eggs. Delicious but not vegan!
He also made me a HUGE sweet potato with cinnamon and brown sugar, a salad with strawberries and an onion and berry jam vinaigrette.
They have hummus they can serve with fresh vegetables rather than parmesan pita chips and they offer a delicious pasta on a bed of zucchini “noodles”. Doesn’t this plate of hummus and vegetables look beautiful?
Stop in and ask to see their vegan menu.
Tell them Snap Pea Sheep sent ya!
