Many times lately, I research something and an offer pops up. I vet my research material quite extensively and try to make sure it is not sponsored or an ad for a slew of supplements or creams.
When I saw a pop-up for a book by Sandra Cabot MD about Corona viruses, I had to look into it. Sandra is well known as The Liver Doctor and I’ve been buying her Livertone Plus for years.
I suspect a link between Covid-19 and the gastrointestinal system so I picked up her book. The book was very informative and helpful for my research as well.
After reading just a few chapters, I had to share this. Sandra mentions a correlation between Covid-19 and the liver. Fatty liver has been identified as one of the underlying health concerns for this virus. However she doesn’t mention a correlation between Covid-19 and the gallbladder. Not surprising, the research on this connection is in the beginning stages.
Social Damaging
Sandra seems to spend some time trying to balance science against the conspiracy views that were exacerbated by the two part webinar, Plandemic. This conspiracy theory was very damaging and had gone global before it was vetted and determined to be largely made up of false statements.
Of course removing this webinar only added fuel to the fire!
The problem with this conspiracy theory is the social impact. So many people are concerned about rights, they are putting the country and possibly the world at risk. People are not taking this virus seriously and compare it to the common flu.
Conspiracy theory Issues:
- Was this virus created in a lab? Most likely! Released on purpose or accidental, we will never know.
- Are there greedy people trying to capitalize on this virus? Of course! Exploitation is the unfortunate foundation for capitalism.
- Should we be wary of this vaccine? I would certainly question it! This is a SARS-Corona virus and they never developed a vaccine for the 2009 outbreak.
- Will someone try to make it mandatory? Again, we have rich, greedy people who can buy legislation, so they might try. However, they would have to have enough vaccine for everyone and that will be a deterrent.
- Should we have shut down the world and collapsed economies trying to curtail it? Obviously this didn’t work. What the shut down WILL do is move a lot of people into higher risk categories as their poverty level rises and health conditions lower for them. Is there a conspiracy to collapse the world economy? Who can say?
- Aren’t there other diseases that have a higher mortality rate? Absolutely! However, I reiterate – we don’t know what this disease can do and we have no natural immunity to this virus.
This disease is LONG TERM!
Regardless of our rights, this virus is not going to go away in our life time or that of our great, great grandchildren. It will be endemic…. never ending! It is insidious and once contracted, we have it for life!
Sandra believes COVID-19 was likely created in a lab and explains why. (Read the book).
She is not an anti-vaxer but believes a vaccine hastily created for COVID-19 could be harmful. She doesn’t recommend it. This disease mutates. Compare it to an influenza vaccine. Every year we get a new flu shot for influenza that is created based on the previous year outbreak. Anyone who has experienced the flu shot realizes it is a crap shoot.
My take on the Vaccine!
Gee, let’s create a vaccine for a virus we barely know.
This virus is relatively unknown with possible long term effects.
We don’t know enough to even know which TYPE of vaccine to create! It seems like a political maneuver and too rushed for any kind of meaningful tests.
I don’t wish to sway anyone! There are obviously vaccines that have been very helpful. Generally the successful vaccines are for viruses that may happen one time like small pox, measles, mumps, polio, or rabies. However, this virus is similar to Shingles, Herpes, HIV, and Epstein-Barr. It doesn’t go away, it just goes dormant!
Viruses are grown in food items such as eggs, milk, corn, rice, wheat, or with metals toxins such as mercury and aluminum. If we are given a sample of the virus to build our immunity, we could increase the potency of it simply by eating or absorbing the pathogen it was grown in.
Eggs, milk, corn, rice and wheat are STAPLES In the Standard American Diet!
Focus of the book
Her book is based on science and logic. She does not rule out conspiracy but exposes information that could be controversial to the point she could get slammed for it. (We all know if you don’t agree with the people who profit from the mainstream, they will ruin you, discredit you or buy you)!
The view point we both share is our concern about the danger of this virus! Regardless where it came from, who is profiting, whether we are reacting correctly or not – it does not negate the danger.
We have a virus where people can be exposed, contagious, and show no symptoms. Symptoms can range from extremely mild to deadly. We are only beginning to realize long term effects from Covid-19 or various versions of the Corona virus.
Sandra outlines the high risk categories for this virus. As a vaccine will likely be ineffective, dangerous or unavailable, it is paramount to enhance our immunity through nutrition. We need to regain our health through diet!
Although Covid-19 is largely touted as a respiratory virus, we are slowly learning of long-term impact on weakened areas of the body.
The connection between Covid-19 and the gastrointestinal system.
One thing I DON’T see in her book is any connection between COVID-19 and cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation). Not surprising as I’ve only found a few links and a study that began in October.
From what I’ve been researching, COVID-19 can attack the gastrointestinal system. The gallbladder may be the first organ in the gastrointestinal system affected by the virus. I’ve surmised that the liver, pancreas or colon would be impacted once the cholecystectomy is performed.
Fatty liver is one of the underlying health conditions exacerbated by COVID-19. Someone can be obese and have a low risk. Anyone with a fatty liver over 10% moves immediately into a high risk category.
Clearly, there isn’t much link between the liver and the respiratory system. This indicates the virus can and will affect the body in ways other than the respiratory system.
My connection between Covid-19 and the gallbladder.
When Harry and first got Covid-19 back in March 2020, We thought maybe it was allergies.
Personally I was already dealing with pain, muscle aches, stiffness and fatigue but Covid-19 made it 10 times worse. Harry was hit the same way I was and either of us have regained our strength.
My abdomen started bothering me about 3 months later. Just twinges. A vague feeling that something wasn’t right.
I had what I think was a minor gallbladder attack back in July. I was ok in a few days but I was shocked that ONE DISH with too much fat just about did me in.
Pretty scary considering our normal diet is whole food, plant based and very healthy.
Anyway, I talked to my Dr. and requested a sonogram. It was done the last week of September. Well the results on 9/1 were rather unremarkable. NO gallbladder inflammation – just a little sludge. Beginnings of a fatty liver. Pancreas, normal.
I think it was 10/12 or 10/13 when I had another gallbladder attack. Two days later I am having another sonogram. THIS time, I had a fully inflamed gallbladder with a collapsed wall. Next stage was gangrene or sepsis. Emergency surgery was my only option!
So gallbladder damage that might normally happen in a few years happened in less than two months! Imagine if I would have been eating the standard American diet all this time! A cheeseburger and fries probably would have killed me!
I still have abdominal pain and periodic nausea. Some times it is pretty bad. I am concerned this virus has now impacted my liver or pancreas. From some studies I’ve found, liver scarring and pancreatitis are ALSO common after a cholecystectomy in Covid-19 patients. It seems the virus doesn’t just quit! My lymph nodes hurt too for days at a time. THAT concerns me greatly. It could mean the spleen could be a target as well.
Diabetes is another underlying disease increases the risk of Covid-19.
Could Covid-19 exacerbate the dangers of diabetes? Could it increase the possibility of neuropathy, blood sugar irregularities and elevated blood pressure?
Diabetes is caused by an overtaxed pancreas that has resulted in insulin resistance. The pancreas is protected by the liver. If the liver is overwhelmed, then the pancreas suffers. In a way, you could say that diabetes is a sign of liver disease!
My neuropathy seems to be worse after my surgery. I read where the antibiotic they wanted to give me could cause PERMANENT neuropathy and refused to take the generic. (The warning was on the generic, not the original drug). Well that antibiotic was in my IV for 48 hours and I was not given another option on the prescriptions I took home. Neuropathy is generally indicative of diabetes.
So does the disease silently damage the organs that are the least immune? If one is removed, does the virus move on to another?
Harry and I both notice problems with our eyes. Harry has early onset glaucoma. My vision sometimes blurs and I get frequent headaches.
Sometimes vision is impaired as a complication to diabetes. Our vision issues could all be due to old age but it seems strange that we didn’t have any of these conditions prior to March.
If diabetes is your weakness or you suspect it to be, assume you have some degree of liver disease!
Immediately cut the fat in your diet! Limit your animal protein as most animal protein is high in fat. Aim for a diet that has no more than 20% fat!
Limit your sugar but be especially careful to not have sugar and fat at the same time! Your body rebuilds itself with sugar but cannot process it if it is dealing with fat!
Cut out high processed carbohydrates. Those from bread, white rice, cereal, pastries and cookies
Hibiscus tea is a great blood sugar regulator. Drink several cups daily!
Get your protein from beans. Many leafy greens are high in protein as well. Balance your meals.
High blood pressure, heart disease and stroke
Prior to our getting Covid-19, my blood pressure was perfect. Since then, my BP fluctuates from normal to high. It is highest when I am in pain, naturally.
Back on hibiscus tea! (Yes it REALLY helps).
Most people on a WFPB diet regain their heart health. For that reason, they do not consider themselves a high risk. Because of my plant based diet, I haven’t been real concerned about heart disease or stroke either.
Maybe I should be!
High fat, measured by cholesterol and triglycerides is the largest contributor to heart disease and stroke.
It is easy to over do fat with plant food. I realized I exceeded my fat content for the week with one salad with avocado, olives and nuts with a dressing made with coconut yogurt or tahini, and “cheese crumbles” made with tofu and sunflower seeds.
An impaired liver or pancreas can make fat more difficult to break down. A missing gallbladder accentuates the problem!
Limit fat to your evening meal and eat 50% less fat than normal. Try to have two to four days a week that are fat free! Realize that vegetable, coconut, seed and nut fats are still fats. The body does not make a distinction between plant and animal fat in the blood.
The virus can grow on heavy metals and toxins.
Toxins such as pesticides, harsh household chemicals and personal products can weaken any one’s immunity. Add in heavy metals such as mercury and aluminum and you can expect neuropathy, brain damage, and diseases such as dementia, alzheimer’s and parkinson’s.
Supplements you might consider are Selenium, NAC, Alpha Lipoic Acid, L-Carnitine, Magnesium and Co Q 10. (Sandra goes into more depth in her book).
Respiratory issues and pneumonia.
Corona seems to be considered the deadliest when it attacks the respiratory system.
I was lucky there. Although I suffer from allergies, I don’t eat dairy. Dairy impairs the respiratory system!
If you suspect exposure, eliminate dairy for at least 30 days.
Personally I use Gaia elderberry syrup to boost immunity and Gaia bronchial tea for respiratory relief. The tea works wonders when my allergies flair up.
If you have never use a Neti pot, get one! Use it daily to clean out your sinuses where the disease incubates.
My weakness is gastrointestinal!
If the liver may be the next target for myself, I will need to be alcohol free.
The liver can repair itself quite well in as little as nine months with the right liver support, low fat intake and abstinence! It cannot begin to heal fighting alcohol!
Impact to the gastrointestinal system could damage the gallbladder, pancreas, liver, spleen, colon or stomach!
After reading other studies around COVID-19 and the gastrointestinal system, I plan to begin a regimen of Livatone Plus*, Cats Claw, Astragalus, Ashwaganda, and D vitamins 2-4.
* Livatone Plus has selenium, B12 and NAC.
We have not heard ANYTHING about Corona and brain or nerve diseases. It does not mean they are not there.
Sea products have a remarkable ability to absorb heavy metals. Incorporate nori, hijiki, wakame, spirulina, kelp and dulse into your diet. Try to include Japanese food into your diet several times a week.
I recommend the Cleanse to Heal by Anthony William to understand heavy metal detox. He has a heavy metal shake recipe in most of his books.
Sandra’s book is on Amazon kindle for $9.99 but I found it available several places as an E- book.
