For Mothers Day, my daughter treated me to an outing at Lavender Ridge Farms.
Lavender Ridge Farms is just that, a provincial little farm that grows lavender.
It is a lot more because they have a small cafe that serves food inspired by lavender. The salad with lavender dressing was a new experience for me. Of course I had to buy a bag of culinary lavender from the gift shop. I didn’t waste time using it either. Try my squash salad with lavender dressing!
Meet the owner, Jerry Carter.
I met Jerry Carter and his partner Kevin.
They live in the home on this land, grow their own food, sell lavender products and serve delicious meals.
Jerry said his family had this property for years and he thought he needed to share it with people.
The sprawling 2 acre farm is home to beautiful fields of lavender – which unfortunately were not quite in bloom.
They also have a beautiful flower garden and sell interesting plants and herbs. I noticed a vegetable garden too. Way to go!
Jerry was super nice! Kevin was really busy with the customers but took time to drop by and say hello. The farm was very peaceful and we spent hours there.

and we were hungry, really hungry!
The house favorite is the Salad Trio, which my daughter had. Truthfully, everything looked good.
The Chickpea Mash sandwich and hummus wraps are both available as vegan options. Lavender Ridge Farms caters to various dietary restrictions.
They serve lavender tea and lavender lemonade to wash everything down with.
It was Mother’s Day so I gave myself a free pass and tasted all of the desserts! I didn’t scrutinize it too much.
Of course the ice cream was dairy but I had to taste it. It was very delicious and unexpected with the honey.
So what can you do there?
Enjoy a walk through the garden. Visit the animals. There are goats and geese to visit.
They have lemurs that I could have watched for hours. Those lemurs have it good too. Jerry said during the big 2021 freeze, the lemurs habitat was warmer than Jerry’s own house!
The lemur’s were people watching so I couldn’t get a single photo straight on. You just have to go see them. So cute!
There were parakeets, owls and various birds. The gorgeous yellow and orange birds that I believe are sun connor’s. Also known as sun parrots. They would flock up to the highest perch but come if you tweeted at them.
The serenity was the biggest draw for me!
I felt quite at peace and was quite envious of Jerry and Kevin’s set up.
Do make sure you get some culinary lavender, lavender soap or some of their lavender honey!
My pepperhead husband managed to score some salsa with lavender in it. We haven’t tried it yet, but I am sure it will be good!it.
This is me and my daughter Chris over by the goat pens. The goats were really cute and smarter than we were. They were resting under a shade three!
When to go?
The best time to go is Memorial Day weekend when they have an annual Lavender fair. I was not able to attend but I understand they have all kinds of local vendors there. The lavender fields are in bloom from late May through late July.
