Who is Snap Pea Sheep?

Jaci, profile

Jacquelyn Rummel is the CEO of Snap Pea Sheep. She resides in McKinney, Texas with her husband, Harry. She has a certification in WFPB nutrition from ECornell University and a WFPB professional cooking certification from Forks Over Knives, and is a pod owner for Plant Pure Communities in McKinney Texas.

Snap Pea Sheep was born in 2017 after Jacquelyn was on a whole food, plan (WFPB) based diet for a mere three months.

She learned how challenging it was to adapt to such a lifestyle.

It was not necessarily challenging because of the food choices but everything around it. Socializing, family interaction, medical opinion, food cravings and addictions – having a WFPB lifestyle is a lonely road.

It is Jacquelyn Rummel’s  desire to help people on their transition. There is a lot of information on this site simply because it is her passion.

Jacquelyn is constantly researching for more information that will help her and her family be the healthiest that it can be.Sushi

She experiments in the kitchen to develop tasty, healthy meals for her family. If she craves something she wants to try that is not WFPB, she tries to recreate it to be WFPB. She thinks out-of-the box, attempting new cuisines, techniques and flavor profiles to create delicious and interesting food.

Try her Mushrooms Rockefeller, Mushroom Wellington or Holiday Vegetable turnovers.

Having to learn to prepare food all over again, She has purchased new tools for her kitchen and when she finds something cool or informative she will post a review.

Jacquelyn hopes you enjoy what you read here. She would love to hear your comments.

What’s up with the Sheep?

holding sheepSo why the sheep?

We here at Snap Pea Sheep just think baby lambs are adorable! For many years Jacquelyn would not eat lamb or veal because she didn’t want to contribute to the suffering of these animals. She is ashamed to say that she didn’t give much thought to cows, chickens, fish or any other animals.

After seeing several documentaries and participating in Plant Pure Communities and became aware of the cruel practices across the entire industry she decided to let the sheep be her symbol for a whole food, plant based lifestyle in celebration of a gentler way of life.

It feels good to eat healthier and not contribute to the slaughter of animals.

Living the Sheep!

Living the sheep means eating and living as clean and healthy as possible!

Choose what you wish to eat from raw food as it comes from the earth or tree. The more it is processed, the unhealthier it may be.

Eliminate all animal products! Eliminate as much as possible any processed foods, GMO’s, Chemical additives, artificial flavors and colors, table salt, sugar and processed oil. Be careful, the “Natural Flavoring” label can hide a lot of ingredients you don’t want. Instead of eliminating ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG’s or Aspartame, they hide them behind the “Natural” label.

Limit processed wheat, corn and soy products. If consumed, make sure they are organic or they are likely to be GMO. Nonorganic corn can cause gastrointestinal issues and spike blood sugar. Nonorganic soy can disrupt the endocrine system.

If possible go gluten free. Gluten causes many problems in the body regardless of whether you have Celiac disease or simply gluten intolerant. Today’s wheat has a higher glycemic index and is a big contributor to diabetes! Gluten feeds and strengthens viruses.

Use food safe cooking, storing and eating equipment and utensils. Ditch the aluminum foil and use covered pans or parchment paper instead. Use steel, glass or high quality ceramic like Xtrema, when you can. Not all ceramics are safe so do your research!

There are “green” or  non toxic products to clean your home and laundry. Check out this natural cleaner! Force of Nature. Provide your email address for a first time 40% discount. It’s cheap, you mix it at home, and it is safe enough to clean your produce with.

Find pure products for your personal hygiene and makeup. Don’t use perfumes or dyes. Especially hair dye. I let my hair go silver. Now that I am healthier, I see more color in my hair.

Do cleanses several times a year to remove toxins and heavy metals from your body. You are exposed to toxins every single day from your water, air, food and products in your home. Your body needs a little help! I highly recommend Anthony Williams Cleanse to Heal book.

What is Plant Pure?

This is an organization that is trying to make a difference. Plant Pure is a world wide organization with the aspirations of making a better place with a whole food, plant based diet.

Everyone’s health would benefit from a whole food, plant based diet but the environment would benefit as well. The world cannot sustain the rising demand for animal products!

Too much of our resources are required to grow food for the animals. The run off from the animals is introducing e-coli and other diseases into the soil and affecting other crops. The hormones and chemicals used to fatten the animals are harming the environment and our health.

The living conditions they are raised in are deplorable and the slaughtering in inhumane.

Plant Pure has pods all around the world. Jacquelyn invites you to join the movement.

Testimonials

“This woman really knows her herbs and spices! She has dozens of spices I’ve never heard of and knows how to blend them without over powering the food.

She is constantly teaching me new things! She has really gotten into Japanese cooking but her Mexican, Italian and Caribbean are memorable and on point.

She has southern roots and sometimes just make down home southern cooking.

All of my friends want cooking lessons from her!

Eating her food is always an adventure”.

“I thank my lucky stars every day that I am married to this extraordinary woman!

When her health took a down turn she had to completely re-invent herself. I was worried about losing her but she devoured all of this information about a whole food, plant based lifestyle and literally brought herself back to life. We both feel better than we have in years!

She makes meals now that are absolutely amazing! I don’t miss meat or dairy in the slightest and can’t imagine ever going back to our old ways”.

Harry Rummel

IT Professional, Veritude

“I am a self professed carnivore but I could go plant based if I could enjoy my mom’s cooking every day.

She blows me away with her flavors and creativity! I have a difficult time believing everything is plant based! She has learned to make mushrooms, beans, grains, nuts and tofu taste meaty!

Most of her meals are simple but then she shows off her creativity once in awhile. Especially with Japanese cuisine. I show her photos to my friends and they can’t believe she makes these meals at home”.
