A spicy Italian salad dressing made with a Calabrian chili paste gives a new spin to a classic Italian dressing.
Spicy Calabrian Chili Italian Dressing
Trader Joe's make a hot pepper sauce that is just crushed Calabrian Chili peppers. I first heard about Calabrian Chilies while watching Beat Bobby Flay. I had to try them and now I am addicted to the flavor of this spicy chili. I used a little Kalamata olive juice in this dressing. It was delicious and quite a change from my usual Italian dressing.

Notes
This is a Snap Pea Sheep recipe
I make a lot of different salad dressings and often include red pepper flakes. Once I found Calabrian Chili though, I loved the flavor that has the authentic Italian taste that I never knew was my missing ingredient.
I use Calabrian chili in all of my Italian sauces now, providing I was them spicy.
I have not been able to pinpoint exactly what type of chili a Calabrian chili IS, however. The chili is named after a region in Italy and may possibly be a cherry pepper, pepperocini or pepperoncino pepper, Peperone Picante pepper or a pepper called Devil's Kiss.
I have found these dried and flaked but I cannot find them as a condiment without some type of oil added. The Trader Joe's sauce is the least oily but the flavor it The BOMBE!
