These crunchy appetizers are WFPB but taste cheesy with the creamy center. Artichokes are healthy and great for the liver. Preparing them with an air fryer and no oil is a great choice for an appetizer. Having a dish of marinara on the side makes it a fast, healthy and tasty snack!

I have a recipe where I put these on top of an unlayered bow-tie lasagna, but I thought I needed a separate recipe for an appetizer.

Air fried Artichokes

This appetizer (or hors d'oeuvre) can be put together quickly and easily using a jar of artichokes, marinara sauce and panko bread crumbs. The time it takes to bake depends on whether you use an air fryer, convection oven or broiler.
It is similar to mozzarella sticks in consistency.

Sprinkle a little salt over the final product and pepper if you wish.
  • Bake at 400 ° F for 7 minutes in an air fryer or until golden brown.
Bake at 400 ° F for 30 minutes or until golden brown in a convection oven. If using a regular oven, turn artichokes halfway through.
  • Warm store bought marinara in a saucepan and serve with the artichokes for dipping.

This is a Snap Pea Sheep recipe.
Baking time varies depending on how the artichokes are baked. Timeing can vary between 7 minutes in an air-fryer to 40 minutes in a standard oven.
* Luciana Spicy Tuscan Sauce' was organic and compliant at one time.
They took it off the shelves then it reappeared without the organic label and with added oil. I make my own sauce most of the time but this is a sauce I will use to save time.
It is basically a marinara sauce spiced up with extra red pepper flakes, garlic and oregano.
You can use Follow Your Heart Parmesan cheese sprinkles if desired.
I use Ian organic, gluten free panko bread crumbs.
Toast and enjoy!
